See more in the Faculty and Staff Grants in The Bridge Our own Dr. Murphy will receive the "NCB Distinguished Award in Teaching" March 15th at the meeting of the North Central Branch of the Entomological Society of America. Dr. Murphy has mentored more than 100 students in her lab, publishing 20 peer-reviewed publications that share authorship with students, 14 of these with undergraduates. Dr. Murphy’s courses utilize cutting-edge teaching approaches that typically include hands- on activities and service-learning, and she has published three research "case studies" with student co-authors with the National Center for Case Study Teaching. Dr. Murphy also co-directs a summer STEM camp for girls in 6th-8th grade from local schools in low-income districts, “DU SciTech.” For these reasons and many others, she is being honored. Congratulations, Shannon!
